Above that, the bilingual and special education teachers are eligible for $7,500/yr and $5,000/yr stipends respectively. Another $2,000 is offered to new classroom teachers as a relocation stipend. The teachers at Killeen ISD can also earn additional income by teaching Summer School. KISD offers a week-long Spring Break, a week-long Thanksgiving break, and a two-week long Christmas break.

Requirements To Become A Certified Teacher In The State Of Texas.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Complete an Educator Preparation Program (Current employees can take advantage of the Alternative Certification reimbursement stipend, up to $5,000)
  • Pass the appropriate teacher certification exams
  • Submit an application to the State
  • If you are a first-time applicant, complete fingerprinting requirements (as part of a national criminal background check).
