Killeen ISD Is Offering Recruitment Stipend

The Killeen Independent School District is providing a recruiting stipend to those interested in joining its team. The recruitment stipend is being offered with the objective of minimizing vacancies throughout the district. Currently, around 274 classroom teaching vacancies are available in the school district.

The school district will provide Recruitment Stipend as a one-time payment to new staff members employed on or after September 1, 2021 through May 27, 2022. Full-time qualified teachers will receive $1,000, while part-time professional staff would receive $500. New full-time hourly employees will get $500, while part-time hourly employees would receive $250. The starting pay-out of teachers (first year) is $52,000 and can go up to around $77,200 with the Teacher Incentive Allotment Program.

Medicare taxes and Federal Income tax are covered by Killeen ISD on the stipend checks to increase the amount of total pay so that employees get the full amount as stated. Retirees who have completed TRS retirement papers to the district are eligible to receive recruitment stipends without a one-year separation.

Currently, the district has a workforce of over 6,100 people serving over 44,000 kids in Fort Hood, Killeen, Nolanville, and Harker Heights communities. The Killeen Independent School District is the fourth most diverse school district. The school district has received a Superior rating from the Texas Education Agency and a Transparency Star from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts since 2011.

Apart from classroom teachers, Killeen ISD is actively hiring custodians, classroom aides, certified police officers, school nutrition workers, counsellors, librarians and bus drivers. Information about available openings can be found on the school districts website – www.KilleenISD.org
