Custodian Appreciation Day 2021

 2020-21 has presented a set of unique challenges to almost every industry, including schools. Sanitization has been a word we have heard since the pandemic began, and a major part of it involves keeping the surroundings and everything we touch and use clean. 

In schools, the credit for maintaining cleanliness and safe, hygienic conditions for teachers and students goes to the school custodians. They work round the clock to ensure that all the classrooms, restrooms, laboratories, libraries, cafeterias, etc. are squeaky clean and sanitized at all times. 

At Killeen Independent School District, The Custodian Appreciation Day was held in the month of October, 2021 to appreciate the never ending commitment of custodians towards maintaining cleanliness and order as schools attempt to adapt to new safety measures. It is because of these silent heroes that schools have been able to operate once again during the pandemic.

Custodians make an important contribution towards the success of every student. They provide the right environment for students to safely learn and thrive in school. In preparation of the students’ comeback, the custodians at Killeen ISD cleaned every nook and cranny thoroughly; they cleaned and disinfected every handle, wall, door, window, and surface. They have worked extensively to ensure that the school is safe for students and staff members. Custodians aim for maximum efficiency when working in between classes as they try to do their job before students appear in the hallways. Their role starts before students set foot in school and goes on long after the leave. As a part of recognizing their efforts, Killeen ISD celebrated Custodian Appreciation Day on 2nd Oct 2021
