Tips To Increase Concentration While Studying

To boost concentration levels while studying, the environment around the student should be conducive, bright and distraction free. It is normal for students to get easily distracted by gadgets, however a few tips and tricks can help them in focusing on their studies in a better way.

Following are some proven strategies that help in boosting concentration while studying:
  • Create The Right Environment: The first and most essential step in boosting concentration while studying is to create an appropriate environment with minimal distractions. So, look for a peaceful place like a library or a private room to set your study space.
  • Gather All Your Study Supplies: Everything you need for studying should be in your vicinity so that you do not have to take breaks to search for them. Gather study essentials like notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, study guides, highlighters, a bottle of water, a light snack, etc. and keep them within your reach before you start studying.
  • Create A Clutter Free Zone: A clutter-free study area can make a huge impact in boosting your concentration levels as clutter creates distraction at a sub conscious level.
  • Turn Off Electronics: Cell phones, music devices and other electronic gadgets should be switched off while you study.
  • Make A Routine And Stick To It: In order to make studying a habit, create a routine and stick to it. Schedule your study routine around the time of the day when your energy levels are at a peak.
  • Create An Effective Study Method: It is pivotal to find a study method that works best for you in order to boost concentration. Study methods commonly used by students are flashcards, making notecards, drawing, creating outlines, doodling, using elaborative interrogation, etc.
  • Take Breaks Or Power Naps: Take short breaks or power naps your study sessions. This gives your mind time to absorb information while keeping you alert and productive.
  • Eat Healthy Food: The food you eat has a direct link to your levels of concentration. So, try to consume healthy food comprising of lots of fruits, veggies and proteins. Also, it is advisable to avoid junk and sugary foods.
  • Reward Yourself: Rewards act like a light you can look forward to at the end of the tunnel. Before embarking on your studies, set a reward for yourself that you can enjoy after successfully achieving your study goals.  It could be watching your favorite television show, reading a few pages of your favorite book, etc.
