Wellness Resources for Students & Staff at Killeen ISD

With over 50 campuses and a team of approximately 6,100+ dedicated individuals, Killeen Independent School District proudly serves the Central Texas communities of Killeen, Fort Hood, Harker Heights, and Nolanville. Killeen ISD Wellness Initiatives

The school district provides various resources to encourage Social-Emotional Learning, Mental Health Awareness, and Self-Care Awareness. 

Social Emotional Learning and Mental Health Awareness Resources for Students

  • Killeen ISD offers resources to assist students and parents in supporting mental wellness & enhancement of Social Emotional Learning.  
  • Resources include informative slideshows, visual relaxation tools, relaxing music, brain break activities, and mental wellness activities for students.

Mental Health Awareness for Parents

Parents are provided with resources that include: 

  • Jason Foundation Suicide Prevention Enrichment Lessons 
  • Guide to Mental Health
  • Informative Slideshows & Sites (For Suicide Prevention, Healthy Teen Dating, Prevention of Racism, Discrimination, Racial Stress & Self-Care, Disabilities and more)
  • Virtual Parent Workshops relating to Trauma-Informed Care and Mental Wellness Awareness (The approach uses three basic principles: Connecting, Empowering, and Correcting to disarm fear based-behaviors.)
  • Social-Emotional Learning/Mental Health Awareness Activities
  • Telehealth Services (Additional resource offered to secondary campuses for grades 8th– 10th by Texas Child Health Access through Telemedicine.)

Staff Mental Wellness

To promote mental health and increase the awareness of social and emotional well-being, employees are provided resources, including:  

  • KISD Self-Care Committee promotes the health & well-being of the staff through various engagement activities.
  • To promote mental wellness among its employees, KISD publishes a monthly Self-Care Calendar and Newsletter.
  • School District’s employees can also access free, confidential Employee Assistance Program by calling at (800) 316 - 2796.
  • Employee, family member, or neighbor is provided access to the local mental health services hotline at (800) 888 - 4036.
  • School district employees who have health insurance through KISD can log in to myuhc.com to see what services are available or call (888) 331-3408 to talk to a representative.
