How to Become a Substitute Teacher at Killeen ISD

Substitute teachers are an important and integral part of Killeen ISD schools. They help in facilitating a smooth learning process for the students. Following are the eligibility criteria to apply for the substitute teacher vacancy at Killeen ISD. The candidate -

  • Must be 19 years of age (to work in elementary and middle schools) and 21 years of age (in order to work in high schools).
  • Must be a high school graduate. 
  • Must have 12 college credit hours or 2 years of experience employed in a position working or volunteering with children (e.g. daycare, camps, or coaching). 
  • At least 1 supervisor reference with a valid email address.
  • Able to work at least 5 days per semester.

Here are the steps to becoming a substitute teacher at Killeen ISD:

  1.  Visit https://killeen.teams.hosting/submission/EntryPointBrowseJobPostingsAction.do?applicantType=external and complete the online application including work references. In the section asking for licenses, update the information related to your driver’s license.
  2. Make sure to request your university to send your official college and university transcripts electronically to TranscriptsSubstitute@killeenisd.org
  3. Download the ‘Substitute Packet’ at https://www.killeenisd.org/WebData/DocumentViewer/Sub_Packet.pdf, complete and submit it.
  4. For name verification, Social Security card and state I. D. are required.
  5. After the submission of ‘Substitute Packet’, you will be contacted for fingerprinting. 
  6. Once selected, you will receive a ‘Welcome’ email.
  7. Use your login instructions to choose assignments.
  8. Thoroughly read the ‘Substitute Handbook’ for important information and rules.
