Athletics At Killeen ISD

The Killeen Independent School District offers a variety of educational and athletic programs to help students succeed. Athletics Programs at Killeen ISD aims at fostering teamwork spirit, self-discipline & positive character among kids. Alan Haire joins as Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach for the new Chaparral High School

Alan Haire joins the new Chaparral High School as campus athletic coordinator and head football coach. He is set to take over the Chaparral Bobcats athletics program. The Bobcats will participate in all sports wearing silver, navy blue, and cardinal red.

Chaparral High School, Killeen ISD's sixth high school, is set to open this fall and compete in the new District 11-5A Division 1 football with Belton, Waco University, Elgin, Leander Rouse, Pflugerville, and Pflugerville Connally. Chaparral High School competes in District 22-5A alongside Killeen, Ellison, Shoemaker, Belton, Lake Belton, Waco, and Waco University in most other sports. The new 5A school will have approximately 1,625 students when it opens. KISD's second regional stadium is also located on the campus.

Alan Haire is well-known among high school sports enthusiasts in the area. He has been a Salado athletics torchbearer since 2016. Alan Haire was the Athletic Director at Stephenville ISD prior to coaching at Salado High School. He graduated from Tarleton State University and has a master's degree, as well as teaching credentials in government, health, and physical education.

Twelve KISD Student-Athletes Make College Commitments

Twelve Killeen ISD high school student-athletes expressed their intention and plans to continue their sports careers at the collegiate level.

Khamari Terrell, a Shoemaker High School football and track star, has chosen Division 1 Oregon University to further his studies and play football.

Grey Wolf sprinter Troy Stinson has committed to Our Lady of the Lakes University, while football players Kobe Burgess and Jayden Howard have committed to West Texas A&M University and Sul Ross State University, respectively.

As the lone signee at Ellison High School, Eagles offensive tackle Armando Molina will play football for the Rams at San Angelo State University.

At Killeen High School, three football players, a triple-jumper on the track team, and a bowler revealed plans to continue their studies and athletic endeavors.

Jacobia Thomas will attend East Central University, Jahymeer Larkins will attend Navarro Community College, and Richard Morris will attend Norwitch University.

Tyquan Scoby, a KHS football and track star, is continuing his track career at Texas State University. Jaxon Bonnett will be a bowler for the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Harker Heights High School announced that football players Romeo Taua'a and Devin Nervis will attend Midwestern State University and Trinity Valley Community College, respectively. They will participate in the school's spring signing ceremony.
