Killeen ISD COVID-19 Dashboard

In an attempt to gather and share data about the number of COVID-19 cases, Killeen Independent School District has introduced a COVID-19 Dashboard on its website – https://www.killeenisd.org/dashboard. The COVID-19 Dashboard shows the number of confirmed cases among students and employees, and is updated regularly to reflect voluntarily submitted COVID-19 tests. A list of COVID-19 campus contacts is also provided, displaying the name of the campus, nurse in-charge, and contact numbers for all campuses.

Through the dashboard, KISD monitors a ten-day total of new COVID-19 cases. Parents are required to report lab-confirmed COVID-19 test results to the campus nurse. Data is refreshed daily at 5:00 AM, and the total number of positive cases is divided by the total number of students and employees on a given campus to determine a campus threshold level. If this percentage is more than 5 percent, an investigation may be conducted to determine the likelihood of a communal spread and decide whether a campus needs to close down.

Students and staff members in isolation can return to school if they meet the ‘Return to Campus Criteria”. In symptomatic cases, individuals must be 10 days past the first day of symptoms, have had no fever for the last 24 hours, and to show an improvement in symptoms. In asymptomatic cases, 10 days should have passed since the date of COVID testing. To encourage students and staff to take COVID-19 tests to minimize spread, Killeen ISD is offering free BinaxNOW rapid screeners in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Department of Emergency Management.

Upon entering the campus, everyone is expected to avoid any form of close contact. Students and staff members will be checked for a face covering and vaccination status. Unvaccinated and unmasked individuals who have been in close contact with individual infected with COVID-19 may be asked to isolate themselves for 10 days as per CDC guidelines. However, students with a negative PCR lab-confirmed test report that is taken on or after day 5 of isolation may come back to the campus on day 7 of isolation.

The school district is working in tandem with the Bell County Health Department, Governor of Texas, The Centers for Disease Control and the Texas Education Agency. In addition to an overview page for positive COVID-19 cases, you can also view cases in the Elementary, Middle School, High School and Non-Campus sections.
