Following are some other methods and strategies to improve a student learning outcome:
- Restructure Teaching And Learning Methods: Fine-tuning the learning and teaching methods can bring about significant improvements in the performance of students in terms of their grades. Instead of using traditional teaching systems that are more theoretical, infuse fun in the learning process by rewarding students, setting up fun projects, conducting brainstorming classes, etc. Some methods of learning that can be used are micro learning, flipped learning, mastery learning, blended learning, etc.
- Adopt Technology: Instead of banning the use of technology in classrooms, show students how to use devices like smartphone and tablets to their academic advantage. Encourage them to use apps and educational platforms that offer free and meaningful courses, watch tutorials, etc.
- Use Reversed Learning: As the name suggests, this form of learning is about role reversal between teachers and students i.e. students take on the role of teachers to prepare and deliver lectures on a topic. The aim of this approach is to make the experience of learning a fun and engaging one.
- Assess: To tap into the real learning abilities of students, teachers should assess them in the correct way from time to time. This does not involve the “old school” method of taking tests after delivering a lecture but an interaction-based approach of assessment wherein open talks are encouraged and students are free to participate. This approach helps the teacher in gaining insight into the overall personality of a student and finding out specific areas that need to be improved e.g. confidence level, language problems, fear, etc.
- Provide Frequent Feedbacks: Students should be informed about how they are doing by offering constant feedback. This will help them know where they need to put more effort and focus on that aspect.
