Free Math & Literacy Tutoring at Killeen ISD

The Killeen ISD Tutoring Center provides free individualized tutoring for grades 4-12. Assistance is available for STAAR & EOC preparation, homework assistance, math, writing, reading, and challenging math concepts. The Killeen ISD Math Center also includes reading and writing with the assistance of State-Certified Teachers.

The Math Center is located at Jackson Professional Learning Center 902 Rev. R.A. Abercrombie Drive, Killeen, Texas 76543 and is open from Monday to Thursday for elementary, middle and high school students. Specific times can be found at killeenisd.org/tutoring. 

In addition to free math and literacy tutoring, students in KISD can take advantage of exceptional opportunities such as AVID, ROTC, STEM Academy, pre-AP and AP courses, STREAM Camp, and more. Each of these programs are designed to help students fulfill their full potential and excel academically.

In addition to academics, the school system is committed to the mental and emotional well-being of its students, teachers, and families. KISD provides resources to promote mental health awareness, self-care knowledge, and social-emotional learning.

Killeen ISD’s mission is to teach so that students learn to their maximum potential. It strives to provide learning opportunities that will prepare students for success in higher education and/or the workforce. 

The school district implements technology-based training programs and staff development wherein effective resources and technology tools are used for instructional programs. It provides a supportive, positive and professional culture and strives to create an effective collaboration between parents, students, KISD staff and the community. KISD provides a safe and secure environment for students to grow and thrive as they learn under the supervision and guidance of professionals. 

Parents are encouraged to visit the Parent Resource Center to find additional resources for their children such as library resources and other support. KISD also provides a web-based student information system for students and parents to keep track of attendance, homework, and grades.

Advancement Via Individual Determination refers to research-based strategies and curriculum to assist the development of critical thinking, literacy, and math skills among students in elementary, secondary and higher education. AVID was established 35 years ago to train educators to adopt methodologies required for skill development of students. AVID’s mission is to provide an equal opportunity to prepare students for success in pursuing college degrees or careers.
